Dog Restraint Techniques

Watch the video below to learn more about techniques we use for restraining dogs!

Standing Dog Restraint

We use the standing dog restraint for many procedures, including nail trims and fluid administration.

To do a standing dog restrain, place one under the abdomen and the other hand around the neck.

The hand around the neck will help to restrain the head and prevent the dog from biting someone.

The hand under the abdomen provides support and keeps the dog from sitting when working with the hind legs.

Sitting Dog Restraint

We use the sitting dog restraint for front nail trims, fluid administration, and some medication administration.

For this restraint, the dog sits between the restrainer's knees for support. One arm is placed around the neck while the other hand holds and comforts the dog's from behind.
