Heartworm Testing & Prevention

Heartworm is a disease spread by mosquitoes that is easy to prevent, but very difficult and potentially fatal to treat. A simple blood test can detect this disease.

North Cape Corner Veterinary Clinic offers two types of prevention, including an annual injection or monthly pills to give at home.

Flea & Tick Prevention

Fleas and ticks can be a problem year-round. Fleas cause intense itching and are very difficult to get out of a house once they have moved in.

Ticks have the potential to spread a wide variety of diseases, including Lyme disease. North Cape Corner Veterinary Clinic carries both topical and oral options for prevention.

Prevention Screenings

Bloodwork - Annual baseline bloodwork can help us screen for diseases before they become a problem. It also provides a baseline so when your pet is sick, we have something to compare to.

Fecal testing - Pets can pick up several intestinal parasites from their environment that we may not be able to see. By looking for the eggs in a stool sample with a microscope, we can find and treat these parasites.

Vaccines

Vaccines help prevent some of the most common and deadly diseases that pets can get. We offer several vaccines for both dogs and cats and can help you decide which ones are best for your pet’s lifestyle.

Note: A current rabies vaccine is required for all pets seen at the clinic.
